As you delve into this website, you may be asking yourself one pretty obvious question, who does this guy think he is? Trying to tell me how to get into medical school!? It’s the very first question I would ask if I were in your position. Given that you did visit this website and started reading, I would assume that we were once actually in a very similar position. I too had difficulty getting into medical school. At one point or another I kept beating myself up because I felt as though I just wasn’t good enough. Around every corner there was an insurmountable obstacle blocking me from my goal of being a doctor. I felt worthless all the time, I was anxious, depressed, and incredibly insecure. I couldn’t do anything right.

Fast-forward past lots of crying sessions, peaks and valleys and voila, I’m on the other side. I am finally in medical school (or will be come Fall). I will delve as deep as I can into my experiences. At least those that taught me valuable lessons and led to the kind of successes I have had. In doing so I want to provide you with the sort of guidance I wish I would have had when I was going through this process. If I had all the knowledge then, that I have now, I would have gotten into medical school far sooner, with far less grieve. But Hindsight is 20/20, after all. Nevertheless, I am thoroughly thankful for everything that I have had to endure because it has put me in a position to be able to give back in a meaningful way. I know there are countless students out there who would make tremendous physicians. Yet, they find themselves falling just short of their goal. Constantly reconsidering if what they’re doing is enough. Doubting their every move. Not having the proper guidance to get them over the hump. If this sounds like anything you have been through, or are currently going through, then this website is for you.

So, who am I exactly? Well I hope I can give you a very thorough answer, eventually, but for now let’s just start with the juicy facts that you actually want to hear. As I write this, I have an acceptance to the following medical schools: The University of North Carolina, The University of Miami, The University of Florida, and Florida International University. Not to toot my own horn, but toot-toot. To be clear, I don’t mean for this to be a humble brag. It’s a full blown unapologetic, bona fide B-R-A-G. I really did that shit, and I am not shy about it. Before you call me a giant arrogant bastard, hear me out. I am not afraid to talk about the kind of success I have had, because I worked my ass off. This was not given to me. I did not get lucky. I earned every little bit of it. I am proud of myself. If you use the principles that I will provide on this website, you too will hold your head high and proudly pronounce your dominance over this process.

So, to answer, why you should listen to my guidance, it’s because I’m tangible, living, indisputable evidence of how you can go from a scrub to scrubs. You may have advisors or physician mentors that give you slightly different guidance. I do not wish to discredit anyone or go against any information someone else may be providing you. Use my guidance as a supplement to what you already know. That being said, remember that despite how wonderful, intelligent, and capable these folks may be, they have an often times detrimental perspective. For example, chances are your academic advisors have never applied to medical school or gone through the process themselves. Talking about something and doing something are two completely different things. Moreover, your physician mentors may have insight into what it means to be a physician that I could never provide you. Yet, if they applied to medical school over 20 years ago, chances are the process is incomparable. They probably submitted a paper copy of their application. What they had to do, and what we have to do, shouldn’t even be uttered in the same sentence. It’s just not the same.

Everything I advise for, or against, is because I lived through it. I dedicated three years of my life to just get into medical school.
